Camp Fire USA Launches New Website
In Advance of 2010 Centennial Celebrations

(KANSAS CITY, MO) - On July 24, 2009, Camp Fire USA’s all new website went live to kickoff a fresh, new look and bold new campaign heading into it’s 100th birthday in 2010. You can visit the new site at: campfireusa.org. Today, Camp Fire is one of the largest national providers of service and programs to children and youth, providing over 22 million program hours last year alone.

“The new website accurately reflects the vibrancy and continued relevance of Camp Fire USA,” said CEO Pamela Wilcox. “It also introduces a new organizational concept we call our ‘4Cs’: Caring, Camping, Contributing and Connecting. The new design integrates these basic pillars of Camp Fire and makes it much easier for visitors to find their specific area of interest.”

In addition to improved functionality, the site will keep visitors updated on events planned for the organization’s Centennial celebrations. The site’s online store will also soon feature many new Centennial items.

“We invite everyone, especially our millions of alumni, to visit the new site,” added Kirk Kirkpatrick, V.P. and Chief Marketing Officer. “Our alumni reach out to us all the time, and now they can do so in a place that’s easy to connect not only with us, but with each other and those long lost Camp Fire friends.”

Camp Fire USA is distinctive from other youth service organizations in many significant ways. While many began with a narrowly defined membership that continues today, Camp Fire began with no racial barriers and a non-sectarian focus that was unique in its day and a model for others even now.

The venerable organization has singularly understood the need to evolve as our society’s values have changed, and in the early 1970s, it became even more inclusive by admitting boys to the organization. To reflect the change, the organization was re-named Camp Fire Boys and Girls. Later, that inclusiveness was expanded to include all children and youth, regardless of race, creed, sex, social status, disability or sexual orientation. Earlier this decade, it became known simply as “Camp Fire USA.”

Today, Camp Fire USA’s hundreds of outcome-based youth development programs are open to all members of every community it serves across the nation. While there are many youth service organizations, there are none as diverse as Camp Fire USA.
